I’ve been doing some garden work recently at a nearby community garden. More specifically weed work. Helping to clear a walkway that has been overcome by weeds and “creeping charlies” so that come spring the fresh soil will be walkable and welcoming to visitors.
Each week, digging up the old and laying protective foundation for what will be rebirthed in the spring. Weeding has been surprisingly therapeutic and helping me understand my own inner weeds and workings. I’ve been digging up old resentments and clearing them out so I can move forward and feel more clear.
You can't plant new seeds where old weeds remain.
Speak up and clear out what you have been keeping under the surface. If you don’t, it will sprout up and resurface. Often in unpleasant, nuanced ways. The thing about weeds is that they seem never ending. That the digging never stops. Some roots stretch so far down and are so wide you are surprised at how much comes up. Others are right there on the surface or not too far from it. What we thought we were past still has roots. When doing rootwork you must unearth from where it began.
What is something that keeps coming up for you? In your mind and in your heart? What are you not over that you thought you were?
Where do you need to be more honest with yourself and the people in your life?
What does your heart need, truly?
Where do you need to go within yourself to find forgiveness so resentment does not root itself in your being?
What weeds need tending to in your own life?
As always, earth mirrors the living. The season of transition has many lessons for us Earthly Beings. It is time to uproot, protect the soil of your heart, for new foundation to be laid.
