As we enter eclipse season, we have found ourselves in a cleansing portal. A reckoning with what exists that no longer serves us. Ways of being, relationships, old patterns and outdated stories. The veil is thin for much to be revealed so you can realign with what is for you.
Portals are gateways to new worlds and uncovered truths. An opening. An energy exchange. A brief moment where the veil is thin and you have access to what’s possible or what already exists.
Portals are passages to other worlds, other realms, access to unexplored parts of self. Sometimes you’ve entered a portal without realizing it. Other times, you are aware of a portals presence when you have come to it’s entry.
It is a feeling
to be in the midst of
in the presence of
a Portal
They exist in many ways. Portals come by way of entry points, gateways, points of symmetry that have an opening, the space between two things
Time is a portal
Music is a portal
Sex is a portal
Dreams are portals
Routes are portals
People are portals
How do you know a person is a portal? You are changed after their presence.
They invite you into their world to reveal and reflect truths and shadows. Have you ever experienced a person who, when they talk you are suddenly transported into their words and you feel like you’re inside of them? Or simply being in the presence of the person feels like you’ve entered a different world, a world where you are shown parts of yourself you hadn’t met yet or been exposed to a possibility you hadn’t considered.
People who create experiences are portals. You will come out of them different.
I took a writing course with Fariha Róisín for the autumn solstice last year and as we are in the midst of the spring solstice I’ve been reflecting on that experience.
Fariha created a portal, an alchemy of 13 individuals from different pockets of the world who created the perfect blend for sacred space.
We learned we shared we cried
we reflected we laughed
we danced we danced we danced.
and for a brief moment
we were free.
The intimacy of a space is where safety and sovereignty are found.
Sometimes you don’t know you’ve entered a portal until you’ve come out of it and you start to see the world a bit differently.
When you encounter a portal, walk through. I guarantee there's something inside for you.
On recent walks, I had been noticing portals that appeared to be locked and the curiosity in me wondered, ‘what is the key to an unlocked portal?’. I normally take morning walks and have the same routes, but one day I decided to start my day differently. I took an uber instead of walking and ended up leaving my phone in the uber.
Instead of giving into panic (which I did for a brief moment), I leaned into trust and believing that all things happen for my good and all things lost, shall return. Leaving the phone, and my willingness to surrender, opened a portal. It removed a distraction so I could be aware of my internal happenings, my thoughts, my emotions, and responses to my outer world. For hours. What I saw was uncomfortable and opened space for deep understanding and compassion. When the phone returned, the portal closed. But what I saw, I could not unsee.
Some portals can not open until the distractions have been removed, and the veil is thin enough for you to see through. It can not open until you are ready to see yourself more clearly.
You are the key to the locked portal, your consciousness and willingness to surrender. Your openness to the unknown
Once you're inside, you are exposed to a whole new world. A world within yourself.
