I am happy you are Here. This is my first post. I’ve sat with this for much longer than I care to admit. The perfect name, the perfect words and content when really I want a space to be honest, to be in rhythm with the seasons. A space for Spirit to speak.
I wear many hats in my day-to-day life. Therapist. Doula. Spaceholder. Lover. Daughter. Sister. Sometimes Michelle can get lost (or sometimes hide) under the hats, even though I’m the one wearing them. So in comes the Writer. A one of a kind, custom design.
A belief I hold sacred is that life is a constant dance between grief and celebration. Endings usher in new beginnings, and the merry go round never stops turning (for all my Grey’s Anatomy fans). This newsletter is a testament to that. It is a reflection of life’s many transitions. How the transitions of Self mirror the transitions of the Earth. A season within a season.
So why be a tree?
I’m a tall girl and those who relate can also relate to the annoying joke that references us as something to be climbed. So I've reclaimed this reference. I am a tree, born of the ancestors, an embodied existence of their physical and spiritual magic.
Trees exist as we do.
They are the time keepers. They endure season after season and are constantly reborn. Unwavering. They are Earth’s origins and legacy.
Timeless. They bear witness to change and are the blueprint for how to weather the seasons and be in transition. What is life if not constant change and transitions, both internally and in society. I consider myself an observer, often hiding in plain sight, witnessing, feeling, and responding to what’s around me. Being with others on their journey through personal seasons. Always a reminder that we are never alone.
We are all walking this life.
The through-thread of all that I do is connection and to create spaces for people to feel less alone. I believe in the power of healing and transformation through storytelling and sharing your truth. In this newsletter I will:
Share stories and reflections of personal life transitions.
Stories of the body and the wisdom it holds.
Stories and reflections about grief and its many forms. How the cycle of birth and death is reflected in all of human experience.
Stories and reflections of life observations and musings.
& whatever else my heart and mind conjure and Spirit leads me to share.
I’ll talk a lot about what I see happening around me, conversations I’ve engaged in or listened to and the themes that come up. Writing and poetry are my salvation and my Home. Maybe somewhere in my stream of consciousness, my attempts to put thoughts and feelings into words, my reflections, you see some of yourself and find connection.
My hope is that this can be a space for you to feel less alone in a world that is growing more and more disconnected.
Again, thank you for being Here.
I look forward to following along.
